Technology is great, I like it. Maintaining to date with developments, collaborating on projects with colleagues in different countries. But when expertise fails, can they then still depend on our knowledge? They run the risk loosing our personal knowledge and experience when all our knowledge is online? They live in an age where they needn't "know" it, as long as they know where (how) to 'Find" it. That is great is knowledge is obtainable but when expertise fails, increasingly people are at a loss. How often do they realise that the shop assistant does not know how to work out the change they needs to give when the money register fails or the calculator has broken down. Don't get me wrong, I like expertise and I depend on it but I won't permit it to make me feel like an invalid when it fails.
